About White Noise for Sleeping
This site is built and maintained by Digital Signet, a small web publishing company based in the UK. We built it because we like good sleep, and we were frustrated by the existing options: YouTube pre-roll ads, login-gated apps, and dated web tools that required Flash or downloaded files.
White Noise for Sleeping uses the Web Audio API to generate noise algorithmically in your browser. No audio files are downloaded. The generator creates a mathematically perfect infinite loop with no audible repeat patterns. All noise colours (white, pink, brown, violet, grey) are synthesised live using established algorithms.
The site is free to use, requires no signup, and carries no ads on the player page. Content pages include affiliate links to sound machines and sleep products where we have made a genuine recommendation. We disclose these clearly.
Content standards
All informational content is dated with a “last updated” note. We cite peer-reviewed sources where available. Pages covering infant safety (YMYL content) reference AAP policy statements directly and carry medical-advice disclaimers. ADHD content references the Soderlund et al. stochastic resonance research and acknowledges its limitations honestly.
We do not make unsubstantiated health claims. We link to Sleep Foundation, ADDitude, and the American Tinnitus Association as authoritative sources where they have more comprehensive coverage than we do.
